Coming attractions 2011
This website started in August 2010, since then we’ve published thirty-one articles covering film production from the 1930s to the 1990s.
I’ve written about many aspects of my career but there are more subjects to come.
Here are some of the articles planned for 2011…
Motorsport: Formula 2 Grand Prix. In 1966 I started filming the Formula 2 season, Formula 2 used to draw large crowds and the world’s leading drivers all took part, the likes of Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, Jack Brabham and Jochen Rindt.
Formula 1 – We followed the Honda Racing Team around Europe in 1968 with their driver John Surtees.
The R.A.C. Rallies of 1971 and 1973 for Toyota.
Football: The coverage of the 1961, ’62 and ’63 FA Cup Finals for Movietone and making sure none of the goals were missed.
The World Cup 1966.
A profile on all the World Cup teams of 1974 and 1978.
Football filmed for Managers’ analysis for Arsenal and Charlton, in 1970.
The Coronation: June 2nd 1953 – A place outside Westminster Abbey with cameraman Alec Tozer of Movietonews. We covered the arrivals of dignitaries and the arrival of Her Majesty The Queen, I took a few photos of the event.
Paul Wyand: friend and colleague, I will write about my personal recollections of the man acknowledged by his peers as the greatest newsreel cameraman in the world, before that I will shortly review his 1959 book, “Useless If Delayed”. I’ll also write about the cameramen and colleagues I worked with at Movietone, in the 40′s, 50′s and 60′s.
Other stories: My day in Court, the story of being called to give evidence at the Old Bailey. Movietone’s records were required to prove that a certain news story was playing at the Odeon Cinema in Penge on a certain day.
Meeting King Hussein Of Jordan, in 1974 Jordanian Television invited me to lecture on production.
We have further articles from guest contributor Derek Evans and hope to announce further contributors in the coming weeks.
